This visa is for skilled workers from outside Australia who have been sponsored and nominated by a business to work in Australia on a temporary basis. There are more than 400 occupations under 457 visa which include managers, specialists and skilled workers etc. The validity of 457 visa differs from three month to four years. Skilled workers may apply for permanent visas under Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) after two years of working under 457 visas.
Employers must offer market salary rate to 457 workers by referring to the terms and conditions that apply to an Australian worker. Once employed, the applicant is entitled for paid sick leave and a four-week annual leave etc. Besides this, the employer is required to pay for superannuation for the employee. The employee is also entitled for all public holidays and overtime pay rates. The spouse of a 457 visa holder can work full time in Australia and children who are under 18 years of age are entitled for free education in public schools.

be nominated to work in an approved occupation on the Skilled Occupation Lists
meet the skill requirements for the nominated occupation
meet registration and licensing obligations
speak vocational English (IELTS overall score is no less than 5, and no less than 4.5 for each sections)
have been nominated by an approved business.
